What’s Going On: Sept ’09

Quite few things going on lately. Still trying to exercise and read regularly. I quit learning Chinese, deciding that I just don’t have the time to take it seriously.

The wifey’s Grandma celebrated her 84th birthday.

We went to the Balloon Glow as part of the Forrest Park Balloon Race. It was our first time and needed some better planning on our part, but was fun nonetheless.

Guy I used to work with got in trouble.

We went to the local Italian Fest.

Our pastor’s daughter had a baby.

Oh, I found this Old Skool gem at a local restaurant:

High School Musical

We got free tickets to see High School Musical from our new friends at Make-A-Wish.  The girls loved it.  Overall it wasn’t too painful.  It was an outdoor performance and was rain delayed, so it lasted well into the night.  The show is a musical about a musical, not my favorite way to spend an evening, but what the hey.  We bought two T-shirts that set us back $50.  The parts I liked best were the ones with the school announcer guy, pretty funny.  I think the crowd was more interested in the family of raccoons that kept crossing over the stage.

The next day was my grandmother’s funeral.  Never a fun time, but it was nice and everything was well done.   Got to see some old friends and family members who came out to mourn our loss and celebrate her life here on earth and graduation into the next.

Ups and Downs

Upon returning from my vacation, my grandmother passed away. This was truly one of the saddest days of my life. I’m am grateful to know her and experience her great faith. I know my brother and I have been very blessed and are what we are thanks to this woman’s constant prayers for us. She was wonderful in so many ways. I know grandpa is going to be lost without her.

Grandma, I hope that one day you are as proud of me as I am of you. See you when I get there.
